Grouped up with Pants, Denton, Shep, eventually Luca and Walker for this semi-aggressive endeavor. Truth be told, this is some of the hardest running I've ever done. Even considering the Sophomore Spring Track hill workout in Bethesda and the Track 5k this past spring, this is up there. The first mile I recall was pretty manageable (6:15-ish), then the second mile wasn't too bad either (5:48). The third mile included a pretty steep section of hills, but we toughed it out and splat 6:05 (mid-18s for the first 5k). We low 5:50's for miles 4 and 5, but here is where I hit a wall of sorts. I felt my breathing almost give out and I was just in a world of hurt. During miles 6 and 7, we were blessed with some stoplights and merely gradual uphills, finishing somewhat fast down the gate near 710 before cooling down and reflecting on what we had just accomplished. Perhaps next time we could benefit from slowing down a tad, but it was still worth the memory. We all killed that jaunt. Looking back, I couldn't have even dreamed of doing this over the summer, let alone this time last year when doing Harriton easy pace would still be a challenge. Proud of how far I've come and excited to see what the rest of the season holds for the Goats and myself.
