West PRE + River Path impromptu grind!

October 11, 2020 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 60, overcast, breezy (but didn't rain...)

Comments:
Slept in then got up and did even more nerve - and neck - mobility. Ran solo today, since I wasn't sure how I'd feel.

Drove to EWEB and hopped over to PRE, feeling OK. About a mile in I saw a woman who (from afar) *appeared* to be running topless! Since I've only gone like two months, without seeing nudity on my run, I "picked it up for a second look" and looped around. It was just a (very)_flesh-toned, well-fitting top (to go with well-fitting yoga pants). Not topless but worth both the pick up and the detour.

That effort dropped me down to low-7s pace (at least). I eased off...but didn't slow down! I rolled around back to the river path and headed the way of Eugene Marathon...and just kept grinding!

Seriously, almost no actual "effort": I was just moving!

Worth noting: before running, since yesterday's run was so bad, I filmed myself. Amazingly, my pelvic stability was fine, but my trunk was deviating left.

At this point, I know where this is coming from: when my right knee valguses in, I'm less stable on the right leg and I'm more likely to "escape" by drifting trunk left. I refilmed with some modest effort to "keep my weight right" and that looked great.

So that was the focus today:

* trunk (lightly) right, AND
* neck (lightly) sidebent left

(The neck compensation for trunk left is head/neck right).

That was focus #1. #2 was mid-back extension and pelvic flexion (essentially, "butt back, vag up", as I'd say to CA). This helps protect my low back AND facilitate hip flexion.

Felt GOOD. Not amazing, but just "effortless" (yet not exactly easy). Breathing unlabored.

Ran all the way to Owosso, crossed over, then came back. Made it exactly back to EWEB for 11 miles.

At no point did I push to run faster. It just happened. Runs like these are amazing.

It's the "fastest, farthest, easiest" run I've done in 3.5 years, for sure.

Rest of the day:
* met CA (who ran at Thurston Hills trails) in Spfd for coffee and donuts!
* home...to chainsaw! A couple dead trees came down in the yard! Actually FELLED a couple trees (including a thin but TALL-ass one that died and half-fell into another). A good 3 hrs work in the yard

Good day!
