December 30, 2020 (Afternoon)
Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Massive rain today. In fact its gonna rain the entire week. I found a little break in the afternoon but stuck to the trails to stay soft and where I was familiar. Took the Powerline this time (after missing it at first) and that makes it 5 exactly. Started out slow, easing into it to keep my feet steady. Trails were wet, lots of puddles to jump over. I did not clear all of them. Slowed down a little bit in Wesbrook Village. It was surprisingly busy, people apparently did not mind the rain. Coming back, felt real strong after I got out of the mud on 16th and just naturally picked it up into a tempo pace. I haven't felt that in a long time, but it was great. What I have been searching for. Held it until I got to Crown then eased it back home. Shoes were appropriately soaked when I got back.
Essentials: Stretch
Good stretch when I returned. Foot feels fine and legs are worked up for sure. A few more weeks of building up after the quarantine and I may be ready for tempo workouts and legit long runs. See how my work schedule evolves, but that's where I want to be. Who knows, maybe races will start back up in the summer or fall. Haven't thought about racing in a while but I would love to get back into that.
