April 10, 2021 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 30s to 40s - snow early, then fine
Comments:
CA and I ran our first Constitutional in a long while. I didn't particularly want to (do I ever?) but we figured it'd be a good test.
Got there at 9:30...to find Hammer and Emily also prepping to run. They were doing a DOUBLE up-down, so they did the first summit with us.
It was fun (once again) to run with folks. Hammer started hammering so I went with him and CA hung back with Emily. That said, we weren't going too fast and wound up hiking most of the second half (so as to not get too far ahead of the ladies).
Felt decent; good chats!
Weather was cold rain at the bottom that became snow at around 3k'. Per usual, it was windy and frigid at the top (76? Decent for all that hiking and about 6 blow-downs).
After that, we parted ways.
I generally felt REALLY good except for the "downhill 5K". I'd gap CA on Sawtooth and bits of Lost Creek, but once I gave the slightlest push on road, she went with it and straight-up gapped me!
That section is so tough. To run it truly fast requires real strength and turnover. Split maybe a 19-high - solid but not spectacular.
Goodman was unremarkable and not too tough, other than a substantial blowdown in the last horizontal canyon that required intricate climbing.
Total lap time: 3:2x. Solid!
Rest of the day:
* sauna
* breakfast
* continue to prep house for pictures
