Got up kinda early and out to do a hike north of Grand Lake out to Cascade Falls. This section got torched from last years fire but they cleaned it up enough to hike. Started out in a nice grassy meadow but all the trees on the left side were burnt out. About 5 minutes in, we and some other hikers came across moose grazing in the meadow. I honestly didnt expect to get to see them, so this was a surprise and we got really really close to them, close enough there was some hesitation to if they would charge at us! So cool. We kept venturing out on the trail, which wound through the valley of the burn. A very cool area to see since you don't get into burnt areas like that often. We actually made it all the way to Cascade Falls, which starts up into the mountains. Hiked back as it was getting a little toasty out and my feet were starting to get a little bit sore. Upon returning, we rested a little bit then went down to the lake to kayak and take a dip in the water. It was cold but very refreshing. Max came up in the evening and we hiked up to Adams falls as all the bugs were coming out and biting my ankles. Just barely got a chance to catch the sunset.
