September 5, 2021 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Honestly, I was sore in the legs after I got up this morning. I needed that to roll into a good long run though. It was moist out, ground still very wet but not actively raining. I started out slowly and rolled into the pace, using the downhill. Today was ambitious. I wanted to go somewhere new and felt like I could handle it even after extending a little bit yesterday. Started out to the greenway and then hopped onto 7th. They are starting construction there for the new skylink. Thats gonna be a real shitshow... Took 7th through the hood as people were starting to get up for brunch and took it to Laurel, which has a footbridge that crosses down to False Creek via Charleson Park. Hooked up with the trail and took that all the way past Granville Island and popped out onto Fir. Took the end of the greenway over to 6th and rode that all the way back to Blenheim and 16th. Once I got onto 7th, I actually started to feel pretty good. I was soaked by that time so it didnt really matter. On the bike routes you can just run down the middle of the street. Also there were a lot of people out on the waterfront. Its just nice to feel like part of the city, that's been a real tough part for me so far. Coming back, especially up the hill, I could tell pace slowed a little bit, but legs were not like rocks by any means. Finished up with a stronger pace once I got past Dunbar.
Essentials: Stretch
Good stretch, took me a while to dry off. It was just ridiculously moist and wet out this morning. Need to roll out a bit later, haven't done that in a while, and this was my highest mileage week in a while (maybe so far) so legs will definitely respond to that.
