HR/Animas + CO 2 tempo

July 20, 2022 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 70s, but not too warm

Comments:
Weird night/day. I think I was over-histamine'd: up at 12:30 and couldn't/didn't fall asleep again until 3 (up writing, reading, etc - and JSG obsession, so it seems).

Up at 7-something, couldn't really sleep in. The morning was a blur, but I got some future planning done: found a place to stay for the Steamboat trip, AND "prepared" for a possible SF trip that weekend before (IF things go as desired with JSG). Fun things to look forward to.

Around 11:30 I got out the house, to the post office and hardware store, then dropped the van on Greene St and ran from there.

Really love those first/last miles of the HR course across the river. It's "flat-ish", but isn't. Yet it's pretty damn runnable.

Then, to come back on the flat gravel road at the base of the Little Giant climb? Awesome. Perfect tempo grounds.

So, today:

• on the outbound, which included the first two miles of TdS, kept things chill. For the first time, I'm tracking HR on the watch. Kept it at/below 140. Worked on fast-footed hiking during those walk breaks, too.

Ran the proper HR course across the creek, then turned down the hill back to the river.

• Inbound: started the tempo right at the river, all the way back into town, on a perfectly runnable (and subtle) downhill.

2.5-mile tempo. Splits were low-7 to high 6. Not bad for 9400'!

Outstanding run.

NO TAPE, either. Had to really focus on proper frontal plane hip loading, keeping my trunk forward (to avoid repetitive extension), then working on basic hip mobility.

Felt strong, and no foot/ankle pain! Easiest 9-miler in a very long time.

Rest of the day:
* lunch
* cleaned up
* 4pm new client
* early dinner
* to bed early! (nearly 10-hours sleep!!)
