Steamboat Run/Walk with JSG

August 19, 2022 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: nearly 80 and sunny already

Comments:
Big day!

Did some AM mobility, trying to loosen my stiff ankles, feet and lower legs, before heading to town and working on a local runner client at her office.

At 10, I picked up Jules at Aneta's for a wellness triple header:

1. Weights
2. Run
3. Hot springs

All at Old Town Hot Springs. JSG borrowed Aneta's gym pass.

The plan was she'd lead us in a strength session! She's really great and creative in her exercise prescription.

It was fun - and more than a bit surreal - to work out with her there. For months I worked out there, "pining" for her. And here I was, with her!

We did 3 sets of four leg exercises with light weights:

• split squat
• deadlift
• reg squat
• side lunge/weight shift squat

Then two rounds of two upper body, to fatigue:

• rows
• push-ups

I showed her my fave yoga-like warm-up and she showed me a short mobility cool-down.

After that, we went for a run! We launched from OTHS and ran a similar loop to the last (/first) run we did on 9/21: through Stehley, around the middle school, then over to the HS and down Spring Creek trail to OTHS.

It was fun, but challenging for us both. I was pretty damn stiff and painful in the ankles from yesterday, and she, tired, out-of-run-shape and unacclimatized to altitude! Lots of walk breaks, but that was fine.

Intimacy meter was still pretty low. Thus, I was hesitant to wax nostalgic about romantic components of that run last fall, other than how "perfect" and beautiful that sunset run was.

After the run...we picked up some refueling supplies at Natural Grocer, then popped back to OTHS and the hot springs. Oh man, it as the first of THREE times I got to see JSG in a bikini. So hot.

Hung out in the heart springs (the warmest and only natural spring). We had some good reminiscent chats, and I told her about, 50 weeks ago, when Zack arrived for Labor Day, and how "deeply depressed I was", that weekend, while at OTHS that Saturday and Sunday, and how I thought "I'd lose her and never see her again"!

She appreciated those shared thoughts, and relayed some memories of that weekend, as well. I worked on her right forearm - increasingly sore after even our light football tossing yesterday - then we got out and cleaned up.

After that:

• got brunch at Creekside, making it just before they stopped serving. The weather turned as we were there, and rained quite a bit!

• post-brunch, I dropped her off at Aneta's. Thankfully Aneta loaned JSG a vehicle, as she had plans to connect with her "host family" from a year ago. That freed me up to head back to Garrett's house to treat Andrew...then take a LONG nap!

Then, it was time for the rodeo!

• Met Aneta and Matt at the Rodeo grounds, just before 8. JSG was radio-silent, but I figured her social went long. Also met the new Fellow, Matt, and his wife.

We sat pretty close and watched various competitions and "entertainment". It was fun, but not amazing.

• Jules showed up around 8:30. I met her at the lot and walked her in. It's funny - when I go a while without seeing her, then see her for the first time....butterflies in my chest!

• I sat below her, besides new-guy Matt, at first ("push-pull"), then moved up to sit next to her. She was gradually more touchy-feely, which I appreciated. Intimacy meter increasing...

I love her micro- and macro- (but super-subtle) PDAs: foot and leg touching mine, little hand holds... We sat, leg-to-leg, staying warm in the increasing chill, until Aneta and Matt wanted to leave. We decided to stay...but move on elswhere.

We grabbed a snack and nightcap at O'Neil's (yikes - too loud and sportsbar-like), but it was still a good chance for more 1:1 time. Intimacy meter moderately-high.

Around 11ish, we left. We hopped into Aneta's car and drove to where my van was parked. Once there, I lingered.

I told her "I missed her", and again, how sorry I was about last weekend, and how thankful I was for our time spent together, today. We held hands.

I wanted to kiss her, but I did not. Lingered for a long while, before peeling away for the night.

A good end to the day. Good progress in trust-rebuilding today...
