Granite Head 11.x mile trail race

Comments:
On Gloria's recommendation, I hopped into the Granite Head trail races down at Granite Beach. Beautiful morning!

Fun times. Highlights:

• not getting beaten by Bev Abbs (-4 min)
• excellent pacing: ran with one guy early, then glommed onto another about 4 miles in. He'd CRUSH the upds - challenging me to stay with - then be a bit slower on the downs. Took until about mile 7 to gap him
• just felt strong! Not easy, but not super-hard!

Didn't actually chat with her much as she "went to the bathroom" for a long time, leaving to pleasantly chat with her friend Ranesh (who coincidentally used to work for Twiet at HP). Good dude. But after a while, I simply took off. Lots of stuff to do!

Rest of the day:

• shopped around in the Roseville (south of 80) area, including some key buys at ROSS
• weights
• home to frantically (and painfully at times) assemble my bed frame. Mattress came today, too, so now I have a functioning bedroom!

....THOUGHT that **maybe** it might get put to use. Gloria came up to Auburn and we met for coffee at 5:30 at Pour Choice. I thought she'd be up for dinner, too, but she wasn't ("tired"). We walked around town instead. She stayed until 8ish.

Got beer and tots (bad idea) solo at The Station before heading home. Fun day! Really glad I did the race.
