October 14, 2022 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: mixture of chill and VERY HOT
Comments:
Cool out and back outing. Up early and out the door just after 7, driving up the hill to Donner (a few miles past Connor/Alice's) to the PCT.
Ran the PCT south to Granite Chief Trail, which dumps into Squaw Valley! Bruce said this would be more rugged and less runnable than going north...but I thought there'd be something cool to:
• running to Oly Valley, and
• stopping midway for lunch
So that's what I did!
About 40% of the trail was mellow and smooth. The other 60% was either too steep/high (started at 7200, peaked at 8700), or very rocky. Or too damn hot.
Walked a lot!
Had a nice "brunch" at Starbucks at Oly Valley, then headed back. HR was REALLY spikey on the climb up Granite Chief: was it the half-caf?
Had that "don't feel like running" feeling on the way back, but it was a good practice:
• running through that fatigue
• form: pelvis left _+ right pelvis sit-back extension
• letting the ankles DF into light uphills (big mental > physical challenge)
Felt pretty decent! Ankles weren't bad.
Thought A LOT about Jules. I refuse to give up. I'm not sure what will happen with the letter. I don't expect to hear from her...but maybe we'll chat at CBI class in two weekends??
Finished just before 5.
Rest of the day:
• short chat and hang-out at Connor and Alice's in Soda Springs
• drive down the hill
• dinner at In N Out
• some errands
• no PM beer, just rest at home
