Hyde Park Blast

June 29, 2024 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Did not want to wake up early this morning. Still tired from travel and was pretty burnt yesterday. But anyways I ate breakfast and got a warm up in. It was pretty warm out in the morning and I was sweated out after the warm up. I also felt pretty creaky and tight because its been a good chunk since I ran last. Changed into my flat and headed down. Bumped into Karl at the start. There were a lot of people out there which was great. I wasnt expecting much just wanted to get out there and feel like I worked. Started out slow I would say and ran with the packs, trying to push the hills for sure. I felt great through two miles and the pace was perfect at 6:30. I knew the 3rd mile was rough, and it was but still got up the hill and made it sub 20 for the 3 which I was really looking for. By then, I was just drenched in sweat and my legs didnt feel like they had the strength or kick to get it going well. So I took most of the down hill as I could and then when I hit the flat around Shaw, I busted it and finished really hard. Glad to see that I still had that in there for me. I was tired by the end for sure though. Caught a few folks right at the end and finished with a decent time I would say. I heard they were giving tickets out for half zips to the women at least, not sure what the deal was with the men. Looked back at results with Karl and apparently I was 2 spots away from top 50 and just missed out! Dang. Walked a few loops in the square then did a little cool down over to Oakley. That was slow but really needed the shake out. Flats felt just about that an I needed some more support on my feet. Still, the cool down was absolutely essential.

Essentials: Stretch

Stretched back at Hyde Park and at home after rehydrating with water, propel, and a shandy. Race drained a lot out of me but it was a good one, glad I was able to just get up and do it. Looking back I had the exact same time last year, and may have even ran the same splits! Wow, thought I was in worse shape at this time honestly, so thats a great sign.
