LONG RUN
Rail Trail to Mile 13 and back (from my house)
The second I started I felt extremely light, the rest felt like it did me some good. I started off knowing I was a little fast so I made sure to slow down after the mile. I accidentally looked at my watch after almost missing the second mile split, but it was my only time seeing my watch the entire run, and I didn't let it affect what I was doing.
As I reached mile 6 (14 marker) I didn't want to get cocky and already begin to pick it up, and I didn't want to pick it up like normal in the first place because since this was my second time running the longest I have all summer I didn't want to cramp up or anything to happen too far from the end. I hit the turn around and felt great, felt really relaxed, and for some reason for the first time in a long while I was just able to zone out and forget about what I was doing. Coming back I may have began to pick it up a hair but it was all incidental and just to move a hair. The last two miles I decided to pick it up slightly, but nothing crazy because I wanted to feel good the next day for doing hills. Could have done the last two miles a lot faster, wish I knew I was going that fast too or I would have gone faster.
When I got to around 10 I wasn't sure of what to expect. The last couple of times when I reach around 2 miles to go on my long runs on the Rail Trail my legs begin to tighten up or I would get tired but fight it. Didn't happen. Even as I finished I never had my legs die on me even the slightest bit.
One problem I did have was my back, the beginning 1-2 miles and the ending 1-2 miles it was very uncomfortable. I was able to run through it no problem, it just got stiff. It may be because I haven't done enough core work recently or it may have just been from holding the same position for so long it stiffened up.
