Interesting day. Didn't sleep very well (what else is new?); woke up at 0530 to get in a couple easy miles before heading to Junction City for the 10K. Felt just TERRIBLE. Wow. And the more I ran, the worse I felt.
Over the first mile+, I debated, then finally decided I would DIET from the race. It was just a bad idea, seeing as I felt like I was COOLING DOWN from a 10K (or even worse!), not warming up, and that if I went to run this dumb race, which means nothing in the long run, I could really fuck up something.
Ergo, I continued on, turning my 2-3 mile warm-up-warm-up into what quickly became a very easy "recovery jog" from the past week. Unfortunately I had eaten nothing so my dead legs were quickly accompanied by zero energy. Really shuffled along on Rexius; I actually stopped to eat some blackberries, hoping they'd actually provide some energy; they might've, because I felt slightly better over the last 2-3 miles. Overall, though, I felt just horrible -- just over-doing everything, I suppose.
Got back, showered, and busted over to Residence Inn hoping for french toast. Jimmy'd! "Just" the usual: waffle, granola cereal, eggs/potatoes/sausage, etc., etc. I had the former two, plus a donut -- they've got amazing donuts! Sat there and read the RG and the EW and had a very enjoyable meal for $0.00. :)
Returned home and promptly slept 'til 12:30. Woke up and went to Brail's, this restaurant on Willamette than EW voted as "#1 Hangover Breakfast". It fit the bill. Yummy, and more up my alley than the hippie/up-scale breakfast fare always hyped around here.
There were ideas of doing a coastal drive this afternoon but after breakfast I was STILL exhausted so I simply went home and promptly slept clear 'til 7:30! Woke up, ate some leftovers, and went BACK to bed! Read a bit, then fell asleep.
Dunno what was up with today, but I think I needed it!
