Headed out east on the NBT around 8 or 9. Went past greenfield park, through the woods, on the parkway south, past beloit, a little past the highway till the entrance of whatever park is there. Pretty sure it was 18. May be a little longer. Wanted to go out 67:30 minutes, 9 at 7:30 pace I think, and then negative split, so I did. It wasn't too intense on the way back, just sort of turned it up slowly each mile and the last four I felt really strong even though I was tired. Got run down by some guy with shaved legs, tights and a heart rate monitor, but he was only ahead of me for maybe a mile, then he turned off. Got to pick your battles sometimes. Got a lot of hellos from old people. I can imagine, they must think it is just the neatest thing to see some young whippersnapper out pounding the pavement early on a Sunday morning, wringing every last drop out of his youth, and it is actually the same feeling on my part, and it is great to see old people on their bikes or walking with poles and just smiling and having a great time. Loved every step of this run.
