Slow Return to Normalcy?

March 14, 2010 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 35 Cloudy/Wet

Comments:
Soberlook up North Park to a little past Shelburne and back (with Grese) - We started off really slow, over 8:00 pace for the first mile. My knee handled the initial part well, though that's not exactly news. Mike assured me that even though my breathing was bad, it always has been and it wasn't really THAT awful (granted, I still have a ways to go). After the turn-around, we started speeding up and I had to be a bit careful not to get carried away. We talked about this summer, training, and cross-country. Before I knew it we were heading back down from Coventry and my knee was fine. The last two miles were at 7:20 pace and my knee was not an issue. I think running with someone helps me tremendously because I am not constantly thinking about my knee. I also think that part of my problem with running faster is that I've been trying to start off faster on the runs I've been trying to push when maybe I need a mile or two slowly to start first. It felt really really good to just go for an easy run in a way that felt "normal" or at least close to it.

Also, the last time I've run more than four miles was November 27th.
