Avery Park (Corvallis) w/Eddie - Strands Corvallis 3K TT

April 16, 2010 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 70, nice

Comments:
Met Eddie at the Strands office to run. He's been having repetitive hamstring issues; I'm 99.999999999% sure I've figured it out (hamstring substitution for glut max), but it's been slow going trying to get him to activate and adopt his glut max while running. We went on an easy run through town/Avery park, which included a couple perfect inclines to practice "The Pull" of the glut max w/a straigh(er) leg. I think he believes in it, but he's frustrated and is, in some respects, catastrophising. Not a good place for a runner to be.

After that we headed over to the track to watch a Strands team 3K time trial. The group's head coach Mike Dilley came from Boise to observe. The Corvallis Crew running:

Reneau
Seamus
Kilburg (1600m only)
M. Downin

Andy Downin, who coaches a small group in Eugene, brought 3 of his guys:

Ian Cronin
Carlos/Estaban Trijullo

Nicole Teter was also there -- I dunno, is she hitched with Downin? I dunno. All I know is she's MEGA-PREGGERS. Wow.

Anyway, GOOD 3K. Kilburg and Cronin rabbited a <4:20 1600m, then left the remaining guys to roll. Surprising to me, Carlos T pulled away, while Reneau battled with Esteban. Downin fell off, and Seamus REALLY fell off. The final results were roughly:

C. Tirjullo - 8:10?
Reneau - 8:20
E. Tirjullo - 8:21
M. Downin - 8:35?
S. Nally - 8:50?

Pretty solid, especially for Mike. I filmed it all for "analysis", and the footage turned out to be pretty valuable.

There was a BBQ at M.Downin's after the race, but I was feeling like SHIT so I drove home. MF-ing pollen. Hope this SHIT goes away soon...
