Weather: Cold and wet and windy, especially after my 800
Comments:
Well i have been going vegetarian since sunday and going until next sunday (completely as an experiment) and i have been eating very healthy and had a smoothy and a muffin for lunch. feeling pretty good, i got to the meet, and did my warmup. i felt pretty heavy though, but i had lots of layers on so thats why. and i stretched and got ready and did speed d. i was the third leg of my 4*800 on the b team. when it got to me, we were in third, and i kept us in third with a 2:10. i was happy with that time because it is my pr still and even though i didnt break my pr, it wasnt my most important race today. i felt strong, but not full of adrenaline in both races today, so it was weird and sorta hard to push through the races. i did a cooldown from the race, got in my blanket as it rained for a bit, and then started warming up again. i was sorta warmed up but it was really wet and cold before the race, so i didnt know if i was gonna pr. then we got to the line, and as she was giving instructions, the gun went off from the other side so it was a bad start and i got boxed in. i realized i had my watch on, so i threw it off. it didnt really feel like a race in the beginning. we went out slow and were talking. then i asked noah if he would let me out of the box in and i found my way out. jarred was supposed to pace a 5:10, but it was too slow for that, so i took the lead and got the race going. he passed me on the third lap and kept pacing, and my first mile was a 5:12, and i still felt alright, but not like i could pick it up much. two horseheads guys were going back and forth with me, and we stayed together pretty well. on the last lap, they were ahead of me, and then i passed one of them, then the other, but he tried to pass me back on the last stretch. i could tell he was a smidge ahead, but in the last couple meters i picked it up fast and did a lean in and beat him, placing second (behind jarred) with a time of 10:24.2. then i did a cooldown with lani and then ryan.
