Hoffman Park Trails

August 26, 2008 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 54, cool but nice

Comments:
Woke up reasonably early to get in this run before going to the gun range with Billy and Nate.

This was my first Hoffman run in a long time and it went pretty well. My legs felt pretty darn good early on and I kept it seemingly quite easy, but I hit a good split on the way up, then hit three good splits on my laps without much effort at all. That's the one good thing about this "trashy" period: at least I'm running fast with very little effort, even though my legs don't feel great. Laps were 7:13, 7:06 and 7:04 -- pretty good for taking it easy.

Got back and went shooting; my first time at a range in at least 20 years. Nate brought several guns, including a couple of my dad's old guns. Shooting the .308 rifle was frightening, it was so goddamn loud. I jumped each and every time it was fired, no matter what. The .22 was way better, and I actually did pretty well in a couple competitions we had shooting at targets at 50 yards. Then we went to the pistol range to shoot my sister's Glock .40 cal. Shot four clips worth but had TERRIBLE accuracy. The trigger is extremely soft so I must've been jerking my wrist because I was all over. I'd like to try shooting that some more.
