Decent, 9:25 and ran towards where we do the intervals.

The Workout

4x 0.70 miles on course on main campus

The course starts off going up hill then flattens out. I felt lousy for all of them, went too fast the day before, my abs were actually sore and legitimately slowing my down because of the workout I did 2 days before, and had absolutely NOTHING in my hamstrings from the very beginning. Originally, I wanted to do 8 a few days before and go easier but stay consistent. Then after looking at my schedule I figured 4 would be a better number because I wanted to get in some decent speed work since my first two meets are fairly big and then they kind of taper mid-season so then I can focus more on going high interval reps and work my way down, plus I will have something in my legs for them by that point too.

We wound up running a slightly longer course than we did last year, and I'm pretty sure the fastest I did these last year was 3:42s so I was really surprised by how fast everyone was going. I did the first one relaxed just so it wasn't crazy, then I picked it up the next and decided to keep it there. I got really thrown off because I would feel like after every one I wouldn't be able to run anymore, but then 30 seconds later I would be fully recovered. I guess I just have to get used to being able to recover quicker now. I said I was going to sit out for the fifth/last one after my third and then again after finishing my fourth, not realizing I would feel fine after a short break. Did a 3:30 rest which is still long, but much shorter than what it used to be, I could have worked with shorter too.
