An enlightening run for two reasons. First off, I decided I need to learn a lesson from each race I run up until Nationals, and I decided that the lesson I learned from the race this last weekend was that I don't have to be afraid of leading a race. Although I'm not counting on having that problem at regionals or nationals, at least its in the back of my mind that I led a race this summer and there's nothing to fear. Aside from getting passed, but that's a different kind of fear than to what I am alluding.

Second, I realized that the biggest hindrance between the men and our team goal (and myself and my personal goal) isn't our legs, they will carry us as swiftly as we want; it isn't our lungs, they can inhale as much oxygen and exhale as much CO2 as we need; it isn't our hearts, neither in the sense that it can pump as much blood as we need, nor in the sense that we don't have enough "heart" to get to Nationals. Our largest hurdle to getting to Iowa is our minds. My largest hurdle is my mind. Hopefully leading a race can break that hurdle down a bit for me.
