Como Lake

Looking at the weather forecast yesterday, there was no time I could run today to beat the heat. It was a trade off at any time of the day. Run at 6AM and it was 100% humidity and 75?. Wait until 9AM? 85? and 70% humidity. So I just slept in until 8AM and went after chugging as much water as humanly possible.

Was supposed to meet Evan and Colin at the Rec in the morning, they never showed up so I left after 10 minutes of waiting. Headed down the transit way to St Paul. I wanted to run a loop around Como Lake since it seemed like this would be a minimum of 12 miles, so it would take a good chunk of the long run. Running was miserable 15 minutes into the run. I stopped at the little park thing by Como and Raymond Ave. Chugged some more water and headed down past the fairgrounds. Ran through the como park area looking for a fountain but no luck. Ran a loop around the lake, which was green and smelled like Lake Menomin. Stopped by the visitor center(?) for water but I couldn't find a fountain. Kept wandering around Como Park and the Zoo area for a fountain, finally came across one right when I was about to leave the area. Chugged as much water as I could comfortably run with. Ran back the same way, mostly. Stopped at the fairgrounds, took off my shoes and wrung the sweat out of my socks. That helped for about 5 minutes until they got sloppy again. I got home with 89 minutes on the watch. I wanted 110 minutes, but that wasn't going to happen today.

Super dehydrated on the run despite the effort I put in to drink water. 45 minutes after the run I was peeing maple syrup.
