Hickories invitational

September 25, 2010 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: nice

Comments:
i had a cheeseburger and a bunch of fruit snacks and skittles for dinner, then breakfast was a spinach and cheese omlet sandwich on whole grain bread, and i didnt eat anything (not even a muffin) between that and the race. we walked the course, and then had time to lie down and visualize before we warmed up (i think that helped a lot because it helped me accept that the race was going to be hard but ill push through.) then we warmed up and i felt really sore. we stretched and then got to the line and did speed d. then race started, and i went out comfortably for the first 200 meters, then maintained, which made me pass a bunch of people. i then passed austin and noah and then zack. i went through to mile at about 5:18 and i think the two mile was like 10:50 i think. then the last mile i had to push really hard. i passed cory, and that made me continue to push so that he didnt pass me back. i felt really mentally strong this race. i saw maine-endwell ahead, so i went after it. then before going into the final woods, i heard cartwrite say to start kicking, so i did. it was a really long kick and it hurt, but i ended up directly ahead of two maine-endwell people, and a good time. i got 11, and 17:01. our team won, which was good. this was the first race i was really happy with. Tim was only 9 seconds ahead, so i think its time i start racing up with him again. we did a cooldown, but not very long because we had awards, so i have to do one tomorrow. i got a patch and a trophy for individual and we all got shirts and a plaque for the team. Can't wait till tuesday!
