Warrior Mountain!

October 2, 2010 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Last year, Warrior Mountain was a turning point for the worst, but this year I feel like Warrior Mountain will be a turning point for the best. At Bob Firman, I lost my way and forgot how to race, but at Warrior Mountain, I remembered how to race again-it wasn't a spectacular race, but it was decent, and felt a lot better after Bob Firman. I heard a quote today from Noah and the Whale, an awesome band that Lila introduced me to, "You don't know what it feels to be alive until you know what it feels to be dead." Sometimes having a not-so-good race helps you to race well and appreciate running more.

This week, I realized how much I actually enjoy running. I always am happy at practice, and I love hanging out with the team-the spaghetti feed and cake-baking at Molly's house last night was super fun! Having the realization that running makes me happy enlightened me, and made me not nervous to race anymore. Last week I took the race way too seriously and freaked myself out to the point that I completely screwed up my race. If you just relax and focus, racing is a lot better.

Mile 1: I saved my energy for the middle of the race, and got trapped by a tiger pack from Mtn Home.

Mile 2: I made it up all the hills without walking and passed the tiger pack, along with others.

Mile 3: I passed more people, but I'm not the fastest downhill runner, so a tiger girl passed me.

I'm really grateful to have a team with such amazing people- I don't think I'd be able to do xc if there wasn't such amazing people on the team! =D
