Well, this was a really fun trip so thanks so much to the coaches for making it happen.
As for my race, I really don't understand. I was starting to feel really good at practice, and I've been taking iron every other day for at least two weeks. I was so confident going into this. I really thought I could do it and I thought I was stronger. I wasn't nervous or anything until we did our Meridian cheer and then I started freaking out.
Mile 1: For the first like half mile I was attempting to get closer to Rachael Molly and Sarah. But it was crowded and I was starting to get really tired...already and I couldn't believe it. I fell way behind, and I felt my whole race start to fall apart.
Mile 2: There was this awful girl named Olivia and she kept boxing me out and oh man, I was getting so mad. She accidently elbowed me in the gut too. I felt myself get slower and slower and I just hit this wall of absolute fatigue. The same wall that I've been hitting every race this year.
Mile 3: Same as the other miles. Ha. But then there was a girl in a green uniform who I said good job to and she didn't say anything back. She just looked at me. And I got really mad because that's rude. So I don't know how I found the energy but at the finish I just kicked it in and that's pretty much the only thing in my race I was happy about. Because it's rare for me to sprint a finish.
Overall I'm super disappointed in myself. I don't like to make excuses because I know that no matter how I feel I still have total control over what I make my body do. It's still my fault. So coaches and varsity girls, I'm really really sorry. You guys deserve better than that kind of performance from me.
Okay. Depression over. At least the trip was super fun. Team and coaches, you're all so amazing and I'm so lucky to be a part of this team. And I think it's great that a lot of the team had awesome races! Especially Sarah, Savannah Kara and Austin!!! You guys did amazing. And I can't believe that varsity girls and boys both got 3rd. Girls, I think we can make it to state.
