October 23, 2010 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: perfect race weather. about 60 degrees , a little damp on the ground, but not slippery.
Comments:
i wanted to go under 17 today, or near it, and be up with tim. i got 8 hours of sleep 2 nights ago and 7.5 hours last night. i ate fish and pasta and fries last night for dinner. then i woke up and had an egg and cheese sandwich on the way out the door, along with a horrible smoothy (which i threw most of it out) then went to wegmans, got a thing of strawberry milk and three muffins. i drank the strawberry milk and one muffin then drank a ton of water on the ride there, and kept drinking until 45 minutes before the race. we warmed up, i felt very heavy. then we did speed d and strectched, and put on spikes (sort of rushed). then the gun went off, and i went out with the guys (really fast) and i think i broke 60 seconds in the 400. then i fell back a little bit, but once i came to the windy non-hilly part, i had a really weird surge that was very fast and pssed a lot of people (noah was there). then i made my way up to austin, who was catching up to tim. A little after the 2 mile mark, austin, tim and i ran together for a little while. then in the windy hills, austin and i were still going at it with an ME guy. at the last slight uphill before the finish, i heard austin right behind me and at the top of it, we were neck and neck. we sprinted and he started to pull ahead and i started to back down, then i convinced myself that i can do it (Ithaca!) and passed him at the very end. i came in 13th, only 3 spaces back from ryan. the only reason i wrote this much is because i think this was a big breakout race for me. Our team won, so we will probably move up in the ranks. then i did a cooldown and ate muffins and played advance wars with the boys. then took an ice bath/hot tub when i got home.
