I went back and checked the individual goals that I set for myself way back in March right after track was over and I got a 50%. 2/4
Goal #1 NATIONALS:
Epic failure. Wasn't even in contention for an at large bid and my running at reginoals was part of the reason that put us there. This cannot happen again. I said it in March and I'll say it again here the season was a failure becasue we did not make nationals. Plain and simple. We were too good of a team, worked too hard, and raced too well during the year not to be running in Iowa. Its just too bad that the seniors had to end it this way. They deserved better and I should have been able to deliver better so that they could have there last horrah in Cross Country on the Nationals course
Goal #2: ALL REGION
Yeah I got this. I accomplished it but the taste that meet left in my mouth and the fact that everytime I look of that medal I'm going to be reminded of the faliure and shitty running that happened at that meet. It just seems hallow.
Goal #3; Split sub 16:00 in a 5k in cross country:
This goal was also acomplished. I did in twice I think. For sure at Oberlin and I'm pretty sure again at Hope. I'm happy. Its a goal carried over from last year and I'm glad I "knocked the bastard off" even if it was a year late.
Goal #4: Finnish strong (best race at Nationals and Reginoals):
Again epic failure. See rationale for goal #1
Notes on the season:
Looking back minus one meet I would have been extatic with my season. There were some things I'd like to have back and some things I'd like to do diferently but overally I'd call it a pretty successful season. That said the clould cast by the regionals performaces kinda ruins everything that I accomplished for the rest of the year. Up till then its all window dressing an on the biggest stage I failed to perform up to my standards. And that why I can't say I'm all that happy with this season.

5k PR (cross country)
2009- 16:09 (straight 5k cross country State Senior year)
2010- 15:56 Oberlin split (:13 faster Who knows at Hope)
2 mile PR
2009- 9:55 split from 5k in track (can't remember which meet)
2010- 9:40 3 mile time trial (:15 faster)
Oberlin was the only meet that we ran the same as last year. Ran 1:34 faster and was 110 places higher (110 to 14)
