Speed Workout

December 24, 2010 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Nice

Comments:
We ran a short cardillo for a warmup, followed by 2x100, 4x400, 2x100. I ran the 400s alone, and I know I could have gone faster. This whole season I've been feeling really lazy--I always hang back during normal runs (a lot of freshmen were surprised when I won the 800m time trial. I suppose they thought I was in the back of the pack because I couldn't handle running in the front, even though we're going the same pace?), I take recoveries easier than everyone else, and now I'm not going all out in the actual speed portion. For reference, Thomas and Henry were clocking 67s while I was clocking 70s. I know I could have stayed with them if I ran with them, but I went alone and payed the price. On the upside, my form was smooth today and I felt pretty good with how easily I handled the workout. I think what I need to start applying myself is for the meets to start; I need something to gauge my progress and to make the effects of my training tangible instead of speculative.
