Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
5 in Sewickley, 5 in the YMCA. I've averaged over 10 miles per day this week. Seeing as how I'm writing this after the fact, I'm taking tomorrow off. I don't like it, I would've wanted to get over 60 this week, but 53 in 5 days is still pretty damn good. I think going upper 60s in 7 days next week should be reasonable. I have to understand...exactly 70 isn't the magic number. Managing between 65-75 in the upcoming weeks, depending on the number of days running, should do the trick. Running 5-7 days a week and averaging about 10 a day is sufficient.
I gotta keep in mind, the base I have now is already the best base I've had in the past two years, and possibly my entire life. This next week I'll start working on strength/speed. That means leg lifts, striders, a quick tempo, and about 10 minutes or so working on foot speed on the elliptical.
I'm 1/3 of the way through my winter training, and I think I've done a decent job getting in shape. I liked how during the treadmill portion of my run today, I could just keep increasing the pace, and my legs kind of just adjusted. It even got to the point where I forgot they were moving at all.
Now that Christmas is over, I'll be able to spend more time at the YMCA and that means more time to improve flexibility. Either way, I can't wait until one month from now, when I get to toe that line again.
