Vasovagal Episode

December 26, 2010 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Other

Comments:
So I woke up this morning feeling kinda off but I didn't think much of it. I was standing in church singing, had only been standing for about 3 minutes when I started feeling slightly light-headed. I left to try to get a drink, but felt too terrible and ended up in the nursery where my sister was. I had her page the nurse on call who came and took my vitals, my BP was 70/40, which probably explains why I nearly (and according to my sister actually) blacked out. It came in waves where I would get really hot and sweat and get really numb in the face and lose my vision. They ended up calling and ambulance and I headed to the ER. They hooked me up to an IV and I sat around while they took blood and eventually went down for some x-rays. It took an entire IV bag and some water for me to finally pee for them, meaning I was most definitely dehydrated, which they said was likely the cause of my issues. Was told I had a vasovagal episode which can be brought on my dehydration and a variety of other conditions.

Long story short (too late) I ended up in the ER but everything is fine. On another note, I planned to take today off anyway because my knee was bothering me again. Chiropractor again tomorrow and then starting PT in the afternoon, probably not going to run tomorrow until after that. It's possibility that they will tell me to stop running completely.
