I could have been a hero...

January 29, 2011 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
So I managed to hang within 10 seconds of Bussierre in the 1200 of the DMR. 3:11 (after going out in 60), which was a lot different from Wednesday. That 1200 was a dirty job, but someone had to do it.

As for the mile, we went out in 2:21...I closed in 2:10. I still didn't outkick Morhard, and in a meet where we lost by a point, that would have won it for us. I don't care if I was doubling, I should have pushed that pace earlier. I ran a 30 for lap 7 and a 33 for lap 8. By some miracle, it looks like I'll be racing the mile at All-OH. The goal is top get top 3 out of the slow heat.

I almost wish coach had entered me in the 5k. I would have loved to triple and go for the win. Carter put it all out there and came up slightly short. Ontko also ran well. I wasn't surprised with Gates from CMU, but JP shocked me. I'm not sure how I would have fared, but part of me thinks I could have been a factor. The other part of me is glad I didn't do it. I could have ran it. I probably would have been in the mix to win it, but you know what, Coach can find one of those 10+ guys that were ahead of me in XC to take care of it. Watching that 5k felt like regionals all over again.

I realized the competitiveness of the UAA today, and its not going to catch me off guard in a couple weeks.
