Not a great workout

February 2, 2011 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Veale

Comments:
Either this was harder than it looked, or I was really mentally out of it today, but I don't think I got the workout I should've.
Medium drill series
Warmup 1 mile
1 x 800/400 No recovery between each distance, 4 min. recovery between sets
3 x 400/200 No recovery between each distance, 4 min. recovery between sets
Splits: 1200 @ 3:43 (2:33.5, 70.1), 600's @ 1:49.6 (74.8, 34.8); 1:52.4 (77.4, 35.0); 1:50.00 (76.44, 33.56). Disgraceful. I have to do better than this if I want to be anything other than the tag-along freshman who runs a five minute mile. Just a shit job on my part today. Back has been tired lately, not sure why, but I'll try to do more core stuff. (This goes along with doing "extras".)

Some new goals:
1. Get my schoolwork done ahead of time so I don't stress about it and it doesn't pull my mental focus away from running. It'll probably help me get my homework done earlier if I think about the fact that doing so will help my practices and races.
2. As implied above, I'm tired of being the tag-along freshman. I need to work harder so I can actually mean something to the team. Right now, even at my best, I do nothing for the team. I drop off people in workouts whether or not I'm mentally in it, score nothing at meets and just slow everything down. That has to change.

Hopefully the rest of this week goes better.

Ice bath post-workout. There were a lot of people which was nice for once.
