Exercise Type: Run
Weather: Veale track
Comments:
So today was probably the first time I've ever run straight up 2k repeats. I think I kinda like this distance.
The workout today was 2x2k with 2min rest then 6x150 just kinda shake out stride/speed deals.
The 2k's were supposed to be at 5k pace. Talking with CoachL before the workout she said this workout should be the easiest of the week. Since I was feeling a little tired from the weekend and stuff we picked out 15:30 pace (3:06 per k) to run at. Well apparently I wasn't having any of that. I ran 15 flat pace and it felt scary good! Like tempo effort tops. I just felt so smooth chilling at the pace just clicking off the laps. Didn't really have to think about forcing the pace at all untill maybe a quarter to go in the second interval. I was maybe 1 or 2 seconds over on the 1000 splits. I can barely believe how easy it felt to run that pace. Now I know its only 2/5ths of the way home and I'm gonna have to push though if I want to break 15 but its definitly in the back of my mind now. I know what the goal time is for that first 5k outdoors if everything keeps going like it has been knock on wood. That makes me pumued.
The 150's weren't anything special just kinda ran not pushing really all out till the last couple. Just trying to be as relaxed as possible at high end speed.
This workout got me to thinking about how much things have changed for me. 4 Years ago I was dreaming about breaking 4:40 for the mile and maybe just maybe breaking 17 in cross. I can remember thinking to myself that legit people break 17 and I'd be semi good if I could do that. And here I am now sitting at my computer having split not only sub 17 in an 8k but sub 16 in cross and thinking that in 2 weeks I can run 4:14-15 and a sub 15min 5k is not outside the relm of possibilty. I still can't believe I'm thinking that. It just reminds me how lucky I am to do what I do and excel at something I love as much as this sport and how blessed I am in life. I just hope I can stay grounded, keep working hard, and see what new heights lie just over the horizon.
Splits: 6:02, 6:01, 150's all in 19 or 20
Moved lifting to Wednseday/Friday, Static 2, Eagle half assed then other abs, pushups, pullups and dips, roll
