I don't know what's wrong with me.
I walked to AU today. Since when does Katherine Bronstein walk to AU? And then I had the audacity to walk back too.
The work out was the same story. I started off working hard enough - just enough to keep up with the pack. I then began falling back. But then came the second 200 and I could see William in the distance. He was looking at me - or at least I wanted him to be. So I got out strong and quickly made my way to the front as I passed william, then falling back the tinniest bit before pulling ahead again - I was almost me.
But then I got afraid I wouldn't be 1st as I had time to rest, to think, before the 300. And I let myself give up. my pack was soon out of reach, and i didn't even let them pull me along.
As I continued to run those laps halfheartedly, only 50% effort, I couldn't bear to look at William. I knew I wouldn't see my reflection. He's a champion. I don't know if I'll ever see myself in him again.
The last 300 I was still lagging behind, until I passed Bobo in the turn coming out of 150 meters. Bobo got me through the last half of the 300. All he had to do was say my name. I turned on. My knees lifted. I sprinted.
How weak could I be?
