Flatlands Stage 2

2.5 hour rest for gorging and keeping loose...

5 mile ride for "warm-up"... more like distracting myself. There were people doing 30minute spins before hand but I figured the neutral roll out and the slow start to the race given the wind would be warm-up in itself...

25 mile loop round town, half into the wind... no one wanted to attack or lead so we kept a sluggish and boring 17 mph average first half. Out of the wind people got ancy. 33mph average for second half which was insane. Given the pace I knew no break-aways would stick. I sat in the back til the big hill 4 miles out. Atttacked and felt damn strong. Blew people off and soloed it into town. Hit head wind again 2 miles to finish. Took all I had to finish. Small breakaway caught me at the 200m sign. Took 5th but the main contenders fared worse when the race blew apart. Probably the best/most fun I had/did in the weekend. Confidence booster for sure
