April 26, 2011 (Afternoon)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 89 sunny HOT (desert-like), wind.
Comments:
jog to sidwell, miserably hot, legs feel stiff, not excited. good warmups, then waited around for 15 minutes for the mile to start. no point doing more warmups since it was 90 degrees, so we just baked in the sun and did leg swings waiting. when the mile finally went off, no one was on their game. i just felt AWFUL - i couldn't breathe, my legs hurt, I couldn't go fast, the wind slowed me down, I couldn't push...I finished the race and couldn't even talk. it was the hardest, most painful race I've ever run. I think my time was ~ 6:13, but the whole thing was a joke. I feel like I was in a trance or something, I couldn't even think. I passed people machine-like, never woke up, couldn't wake up, stuck in this delirious dream from the heat and the pain. it was like inhuman, I can't even describe it.
thankfully, when the 800 went off an hour later, it was a little cooler. I was in the fast heat, but I really didn't quite belong there. I was in the back, unable to catch up. i felt strong - or at least much stronger than I had in the mile - but I couldn't, just COULDN'T, catch the next girl in front of me. I ended up running my best time this season (by 2 seconds - which is only 2 seconds slower than my pr from last spring - 2:55 - but I finished it feeling equally bad. it was hard out there.
i guess the good news is that it will never feel worse than that. hopefully. good training at least.
