first time out at st. albans this summer. little disappointed that i didn't see sarah, but she's a senior and i can't expect her to be out every day. plus, its not like i'm gunna be able to come out every day. it was nice, tho, to see other familiar faces.
even tho i'd started my training a while ago, i was pretty hesitant to join the boys' group. i dunno, with no girls, and what if i couldn't keep up...thinking back to two years ago, thats totally not how i'd have acted. i'd love to join the guys because there's so much less stress, don't have to worry about holding a conversation, just get to breathe in the humidity and enjoy running fast...well apparently i'm no longer as courageous. so i just joined the group alessa and leah were in. wanted to push to pace, so i did. ended up right behind this other group of guys, so that worked out pretty well. after a while, it was just me and maradeth (sp?) and behind the guys. it did get frustrating tho. the parts that i wanted the go faster i had to hold myself back, and the parts where i wanted to just enjoy a slightly steadier pace i had i to keep up with the group. for most of the 25 minutes with maradeth i kept up a considerably faster pace than the rest of my runs so far this summer, or at least kept the faster pace for longer (last time i just did a tempo interval for like a mile or two). i miss running on my own and being able to do whatever i want, just being free, not worried and conscious about those in front of me, those behind, and those next to me. i think i need to get used to it tho - find that fun part of running with people. altho i prefer the crescent trail where i can find random people i don't know to out-run.
pretty relaxed form to day :)
at the end of the run, i had to go to the bathroom SO BADLY. it was awful. i swear i went right before i came! when we were like 100meters away, meradeth decided it was a good idea to race to the bathroom...ehh not so much. :p it was fun tho. and it was a good reminder that i'm a sprinter. first strider of the season?
then i added on after using the bathroom. was so much more relaxed. thought it was a good idea to make it more of a cool down after that strider. it was very pleasant.
think i over-did it on the crunches and leg strengthening. i just did it because that's what everyone else around me was doing. benefit of runing on my own: can pay attention more to my body. As a result, i was pretty sleepy - or maybe it was just that i haven't been getting enough sleep. can't decide if its a happy/content sleepy, or a sad/gloomy sleepy. either way, i'll be fine come morning (i can't wait to see the sun, stupid rain clouds, you're not even really bringing us any rain!)
i'd like to swim next time i come to st. albans since i haven't gotten a chance on my own. but i'm worried that then i'll never run with my teammates and then i'll be overwhelmed at xc camp...well, i'll just do whatever my body tells me.
had fun, ran good!
