First race in over a year (I don't count Hudsons).

Lined up in like the seventh row and went out really easy. I just wanted to break 18:30 and keep pretty even splits. The first mile was cake. I hung with some high school runners for the first couple miles. Faded a little around mile two, but my splits probably still ended up pretty even. Things got pretty spread out, and I was on my own for a while. I picked off a lot of people, which felt pretty good. Honestly, I think I could have run low 17 if I would have gone out with the leaders. So long story short, I'm in better shape than I thought. I'm only a few weeks into consistant training so overall I'm happy with this race.

I wasn't breathing too hard during the race (it was more leg speed that held me back). That will come later (like end of August). Now I need to build. Saturdays are going to be long run days. I need to get some good long runs in to get in shape for my peak race. I've been taking this training slowly and not thinking too much about the future. I'm pretty amped after racing again, but I just need to chill and keep going. November is a long time away, no need to burnout now.
