Weather: A little hot
Comments:
Late by five minutes because I was napping and slept through my alarm. Not legit. Ran a mile to the track, did the Michigan loop mile, and got ready for the time trial. Did a lap 50 on, 50 off with the team, and drills before getting ready to go.
The time trial itself went terribly. I just had no mental snap. I couldn't make myself get up and go, and as such the effort was like an easier tempo run. Not that I wouldn't like to tempo at 5:45, but THIS WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE A TEMPO. It was supposed to be a race, and in that sense I failed colossally. I am better than this. I may be coming in less in shape than I wanted to be but I am certainly not 11:27 2-mile slow. There are no excuses for the way I ran today other than me mentally giving up. No more.
If I want to run well, I have to act like someone who cares about their running. Lately I haven't been doing that. I need to make sure that I get enough sleep and get the lifts in that I need to to make sure I don't get injured. I need to make myself hurt while running, because right now I am afraid of the pain. I need to man up and get going. Hopefully things go better at the intersquad.
