MLK tempo: Firsts

Today was the first day of school and the first workout. Aww yea. Tempo time on MLK. I felt good walking around today. I havnt run in the past 2 days so I didnt know how the workout go. People were going pretty far. I decided that I would be able to go, just a little shorter.

Got taped up by Jess, then headed out with everyone to MLK. Did a nice 1.5 warm up, drills, and got placed in group 3, running 4 miles at 5:50 pace. I want my tempo pace to be way faster this year,, but you got to start somewhere. I was leading the third group through. It felt really easy on the way back. J Frey and Caleb were up with me. We turned around, and I started to pick it up because I was feeling good. Kinda went off alone. I was starting to feel it with a mile to go. My legs didnt really want to go fast, but my upper body did. I felt constricted. I havnt done much fast stuff, so its just gonna take a while to get my legs moving again. Splits were consistent and strong (5:50, 6:00,5:49, 5:50), HR was good too (172). The good thing is I did what coach said, and left a little. I am happy for that. Tough workout, and I havnt done that in a while. Funny that was 2 minutes faster that the Shot in the Dark... :)

Cool down to the outdoor track to do 300's. I was tired on the way over, but got rolling on the 300's. felt like I was finishing a race. They were strong. They we cooled down to Veale. That was sluggish...

Pretty much got straight to lifting. We stopped in the middle to come up for the meeting about alcohol, but it got pushed back so we went back down. Pretty much worked with Peter. I was tough. I upped the weights, but in the back of my mind I wasnt super into it. The row up/ biceps were real tough though. Back upstairs to stretch Static 1, roll. Back down to ice and do ankle stuff. Tired at the end of the night... Thats what its all about thought. paying the price. I was happy with today, and I am ready to go up, but I am patient.
