Quarters: Making it rain

October 19, 2011 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Surprised running log was down today. Anyways, it rained most of the afternoon, a lot. I guess the computers can get messed up, or at least that is what the Key Bank teller told me… anyways got to veale early and chilled in the locker room. Kinda wish I got ready quicker. The bench got knocked over and it fell on my left foot kinda hard. It feels bruised a little. Doesn’t hurt running, but it got hit kinda hard. Pissed about that. Anyways, put my shoes on and got it going. Warmed up with Aaron through campus, pit stop at Wade, then over to the track. It was a decent warm up I felt pretty good, I think this morning helped out.

Stayed dry in the storage room under the bleachers. Drilled and changed into my flats. They felt really good, and my foot was only slightly sore. Kept the shirt on because the rain was deceptively cold. Got out there and got ready for the workout.

Plan was 3 sets of 6x400. First at 5k pace, second at mile, then sub mile on 3rd set. I guess that was like 77s, then 69s, then sub 69’s. Group was me Aaron Peter Chris Chris David and Ethan, And we kept together on most of them. The first set was decent, didn’t feel that tired. We were on a 3 min cycle, so if you go faster, you get more rest. It worked out well. By the second set I was getting tired after each one. I tried to keep my head up and my toes up, but I could really feel it starting to hurt after 200. It was raining a ton too, but that didn’t matter after a while. Last set was supposed to be faster, but I was hurting, and they ended up being the same pace. Basically. By the end, I was so tired, I couldn’t feel anything. It was kinda weird, but good feeling. I just walked over, rolled on the ground. Barnes called it roadkill, and that’s what they want to see. Its what we should be seeing. Splits:
74, 75, 76, 74, 73, 73
67, 68, 69, 69, 69, 70
69, 70, 70, 63, 70, 68

Last set we did the Spartan Spirit, which means everyone lead a lap, and no one could pass you on that lap. I had 4, dropped a pretty fast time. I went out fast, stayed out. Chris was behind me after the 200, and I just kept going. I kinda imagined that he was Mike Standish, and I had to beat him. I booked it in, and actually cant believe it was that fast. Its all mental.

We sat around freaking tired, then headed out on the cool down, soaked. When we got back, some people took hot showers. I waited around before lifting. We went down to lift, it was short and relatively easy. Nice. Back up to stretch static 3, L7 and roll. I just iced my foot after practice with Paul. I am feeling decent after today. I think the lift was worse in terms of soreness. We shall see tomorrow on the steady state. Hope my foot feels less sore tomorrow. I took a ton of advil to reduce the swell and bruise. I can still run on it though. It honeslty feels sorer now.
