Houston Marathon

7:00AM. Sleep: 7.5 hr. Carbo-loaded on perogis last night, got up packed my bag and left early, circled the block once for parking, had some time to kill so I talked with my high school coach for a bit, checked my gear, headed to the corral, took a leak in the corral port-a-johns, then made my way toward the line, didn't get as close to the line as I should have, but it was ok because I run better from behind, a Jesuit runner found me in the first mile and asked what my goal pace was, I replied 6:30, took another pit stop at the first row of port-a-johns (well hydrated, I guess), my pacing plans went out the window quickly as I found myself dropping sub 6 minute miles with ease, saw Petro, Brett, and Justine on Montrose, then in the Galleria, and finally on the home stretch, tossed my gloves to my parents shortly after mile 9, kept passing people for most of the race, helped pace a female runner through miles 21 to 24, she took off, I started feeling, not a wall but my legs were getting tired, caught a second wind and outkicked an elite runner at the finish, couldn't believe the pace I was running, 2:36:53 chip, 2:37:20 gun, both marks were better than Esther, 34th overall, 30th male, 2nd division (20 - 24), my splits: 0:28, 6:43, 6:41, 5:55, 5:47, 5:49, 5:59, 6:16, 5:38, 5:56, 5:52, 5:55, 5:55, 1:19:01 (half), 5:55, 5:56, 6:01, 5:47, 6:00, 5:53, 5:52, 6:00, 5:31, 5:54, 5:51, 6:08, 6:11, 6:10, 1:15 (last 0.2), guess I was born to be a marathon runner
