Comments:
Ran the open mile. Went out a little quick (36 for the long first lap, 36 for the second lap) and lost speed in the middle. Lost contact after 400m and slowed down some, coming through the half right on 5min pace. Still didn't pick it up mmuch but with 450 to go I realized I was feeling pretty fresh and that I might make it. Brought it back together at the end with a kick (!) that left me just short of breaking 5. I was reasonably happy with how I ran. I still need to make sure I run the opening of my race within my demonstrated ability to really run well though. I've been running as though I could possibly make a jump but the opening pace is still too fast for me to sustain through the race. I need to let the pack go right away and run conservatively for the first half. I have a lot to learn. hopefully I'll get it together before spring break and set myself up for a nice race in Florida. warmup with Pixie, Rocky, J-$$ and A-lin. CD with Corey and John.
