8x1600 w/ 200m jog recovery
Goal was 5:20 throughout
Ran this workout with Vince at night on Goucher's track. Vince wanted to do the workout with 60 sec stationary rest and start at mid 5:20's and work down, so the workouts were a little different. I just ran 30 seconds up and back on the track while he rested during the recovery. My recovery jog ended up being anywhere from 200-220m. First time doing active recoveries in a while, made me realize how much more strenuous it is to do that workout without stopping (although still went fine). Really glad it was a continuous run too, definitely more helpful for the marathon.
Vince led the odd numbered intervals, I led the evens. Started out a little slower than I wanted but I was okay with it because I could feel myself fumbling trying to shorten stride and slow down during the 5:20+ splits. The interval that felt the best to me was a 5:16. I let my stride just do what it wanted and it was an easy cruise pace, the slower splits I just wasn't complacent and had a really jagged stride.
During the 7th interval I realized I wasn't tired at all and didn't even have lactic acid buildup occurring. Really felt like I could just hang out here all night doing this because it was going so easy.
Last split I picked up the pace to something more honest, had a lot more in me than that but wanted to keep it at a pace that still felt like LT and not go into AT.
Would've liked for the paces to have been a little faster, and it wouldn't have been a problem but Vince wasn't having his best day and the work that I wanted still got done. The extra couple seconds cut off would only be a number, nothing of significance in my actual fitness due to how well the run felt.

Cooldown was probably faster than the warmup, moving. Possible I did more than 15 altogether tonight but whatever.
