Exercise Type: Run

Weather: low 60's, almost no wind, sunny

Comments:
Raced the 1500 and the 800. Both went pretty well although not miraculous to the extent that I could qualify for All-OH. Was shooting for 4:30 in the 1500 and wasn't sure what I'd be able to do in the 8.

the 1500: Got into a good position from the start, tucking into a gap before the first curve. Looked up as I crossed a line and saw 31-32. Thought that was kinda quick to be the 200 so I assumed the next kine was it. 34-35. Right where I was planning on. 300m @ 47-48 so it was the first. 400 @ 67 and just sort of hung on to the pace from there. Didn't pass anyone or get passed from 250m on so far as I could tell. Hung on okay although slowish in the middle for 4:30.89 which was a nice PR.

Jogged around the field, headed back for water and shark bites and a leg hang before warming up for the 8

the 800: Tim and Steve were both in my heat and Coach gave me a race plan for this one: out in 67, accelereate for the next 200m, crush the last 200m. Assumed I'd be settling into last from the get-go and I was. hit 400 at 65 and picked off a guy at around 550m in. Only guy I beat. Held on through the finish but my head wasn't in this one. Still a nice PR at 2:12 so pretty happy even though I didn't gut it out like I should've. Then jogged around the field with Chris and David.

Overall, happy with this meet. Nice PR's, felt good coming in, kinda knew it was going to be a good day. Felt focused and prepared before the 1500 which was my main concern anyway.

Major props to the entire distance team as almost everyone PR'ed or got season bests. Some near misses on some times but people were racing well and it was building that momentum like Coach Rubin always talks about. Glad to have my last meet with the team this season go this way. Also, Tim is a miler in disguise, and it was fun having big crews in the 1500 and 800 to warm up with.
