Rage, rage against the dying of the light

April 18, 2012 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Nice

Comments:
WU to the outdoor track. I'm calling it 2 (sorry Tim).

Milers had:
4x400 @ goal 1500 pace with 1:30 rest
4x200 @ goal 800 pace with 1:00 rest
4x100 @ quick with 0:30 rest

was shooting for 70-<72 for the 4's, 31-32 for the 2's, and 14-15 for the 1's.

Splits: (69,70,70,71,32,31,32,32,15,15,17(long),13(short))

I wasn't expecting this workout to be as hard as it was. I came in expecting it to go very well and it did. I wasn't feeling wonderful during the later 400s and early 200s but I kept going by saying to myself "200 is a lot shorter than 400 and you still get a minute rest, you'll recover just fine". When I finished the 2's I was wiped but the intervals to come were only 100m long, so I had no mental issue with those at all, although I started the last breathing like I hadn't stopped running at all. I got ice for my shoulder in the Northside training room and Steve helped me wrap it on. Then I cooled down with him to Veale. I've been sort of out of it lately, mentally numb so far as life in general goes. I attempted to reverse that some with this workout. The short recoveries made this pretty difficult although I feel I got good work in.

Stretch (sort of)
300 high crunch
No pushups or the like because of my shoulder.
