July 15, 2012 (Afternoon)
Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Cooled down today. I guess it was supposed to rain and storm, but it got pushed back to tonight. Still, it was manageable to run in the afternoon. Headed out solo to RFT. I mapped a longer loop beforehand that went where I thought the rest of the trail should go, up to Atkins Reservoir. Basically went Mill Creek to the RFT out to where it usually stops. Turned and went up Cushman Rd. It eventually goes right up to the reservoir. Very rural and beautiful out there, remind me of Ithaca a lot. The road was narrow and I had to dodge cars every once and a while but it wasnt too bad. Passed the trailhead to the RFT right on the banks of the water. I was really excited and went back down it to head back. I realize why that part of the trail is difficult to traverse. There is a lot of logging out there, and as I made my way down the trail, I came across fallen trees. It was impossible to pass. I turned around and took roads through a secluded upperclass neighborhood back to the RFT by the pond. The shade protected me for most of the run. Legs were very tight in the beginning. As I went up the hills I felt pretty good. The last mile though, I was very tired and my legs started to loose it. Shins fine though, start weening off the sleeve. Other stuff like my knee and calf were tight at times, but loosened up. Overall, felt good for a long run. Ive got to got further though...
Essential: Stretch, L7, roll, leg hang
Dehydrated and tired, I stretched in the grass for a while in the field, and chilled out before I had enough energy to head back to my room. I guess we have like a month left of summer training. I dont think I am going to be fitting in any "workout" stuff till the season starts. I want to get more endurance under me. If I play it smart like I did last year, I should be where I want to be.
