When The Sky Turned Black

July 27, 2012 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 65-80 Mixed Clouds and Sun/Storm

Comments:
Downtown Sandusky to Pipe Creek long run route-

When I began the wind was blowing gently out of the north and some dark clouds were visible off in the distance. A couple miles in, I felt a gust of wind where the temperature dropped a lot. I felt cold. That cloud didn't seem to pack any punch and I continued through downtown where the Friday night classic car show was going with a live band who was playing Trans-Siberian Orchestra music, presumably as some tribute to Christmas in July.

I continued east toward Pipe Creek when another cloud rolled by that wasn't as forgiving as the first and the skies opened up. The storm lasted a couple miles before it began to slow, and by then I had reached Pipe Creek Reservation. I enjoyed running around the park, looking out across the bay at Harbor Point, the Chausee, Cedar Point, the Causeway, and Downtown in that order, as I dug my feet into the wet grass in the park. I was alone, not another soul in the park.

By the time I finished running through the Pipe Creek Reservation, the storm had ceased and my shirt began sticking to my body. The miles back from there to downtown passed without me noticing them much, the wind practically blew me back anyway.

As I ran through downtown the second time the band had moved on to other music. I found myself a bit thirsty so I stopped for a drink of water at Shoreline Park, stretched for a bit, and continued on back home.

I was in a really good mood on this run today and for most of today in general. So I really enjoyed this.
