The plan was to simply get to the bike. This swim felt just as good as yesterday's 1.2mile swim interms of judging my pacing. I was a bit concerned about going out too hard, but I didn't. There were quite a few novices in front of me, so I spent a bit of energy manuvering around them. I kept my stroke long and relaxed. I guessed that I was doing a 1:40/100 pace, but it was hard to tell with all the people around me splashing and hitting me. After the first turn, another swimmer was on my side and would not adjust his location. His arm kept falling on me, so I figured he was just a novice with a bad stroke. (At that point the field was wide open). My arm missed him everytime until I got sick of getting slapped on the back. That's when I accidentally elbowed him on the recovery stroke! Then there were the other one or two people who had no sense of direction and were zig zagging in next to me and in front of me. That was half way between turn one and turn two. By sighting, I could see that it was pretty clear in front of me, so I picked up the pace to what I thought was 1:35 or 1:30/100 and got away from them. I noticed early on that my shoulders and triceps were very sore from the previous day. That made it difficult to practice good form, but the mantra "finish my stroke" kept things in check. After the second turn I maintained the faster pace. The official time was 15:??
