Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Kinda felt a little down yesterday. Actually, getting sick this weekend has thrown me off and I feel pretty crappy. I want to be prepared for Oberlin and UAA, so I knew I had to run today to see how I was. I STEMed a little before practice, and heated also since my back is still feeling strained. I talked to a bunch of people to help me decide what to do. I wanted to go for it. All I have worked for leads up to moments like these. Other agreed and I went out to do the workout. Aaron hooked me up with a real legit Japanese heat pad that stuck to my back. It provided relief and stability to the strained area. I put it on right before we left. On the warm up, I actually felt pretty good no real tightness pulling at me. We did drills, which were kinda tough cause of the mobility. Before the tempo, I knew that being sick would probs effect me, and Coach said we can do what ever we want, just as long as we prepare ourselves for the race. I kept that in mind. Went out in a slower group than usual, looking to run comfortably. I also only did 4 miles today, since I havnt run the past few days and was still a little sore. The way out I had to stop to tie my shoe, so I was a little behind. I took the short rest at the 2 mile and joined back in and felt good on the 3rd mile, till my shoe came undone again and I pulled off a little. The last mile went to shit as usual, my body was overcome by being sick. HR was pretty high while still being at a slow pace. Lower legs sore from the concrete, but back help up surprisingly well, just went in there and forgot about it. Same old story with tempos this year... Its not the race. Splits were
5:44, 5:52, 5:37, 6:03
Cooled down with Chippy and Sergio back to Veale. No track today, but we did 3 45sec pickups on the way back, which were real legit actually. The Japanese patches work magic... It was also pretty cold out today, and at the end of the run, it started to hail. That shitty weather is gonna start rolling in.
Essentials: Stretch, roll, L7, hammies, abs, ice bath
No Lift. I incorporated some back exercises into my stretching though which was good. Stretch was real relaxed and carefree. Ice bath wasnt super cold because the ice machine broke. At the end of the day, back it feeling kinda sore, but not tweaked or strained as much. Keep with that self care and use this as a positive... Gotta change my mindset and goals I think now. And prepare for what is coming...
