Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
This was an insane race. Saw a lot of runners get trampled at the start. Almost went down. Had to hurdle a couple guys.
The race started out pretty conservative since the enormous amounts of runners. I didn't get very good position because of all the chaos that was happening. I was really careful to keep my feet under me.
I came through 1k in 2:56-2:58. I was about 3-4 seconds behind Tyler. A little faster than I wanted but it's not like I was up in the front so I'm pretty happy with that time. Kept the 3 second gap with Tyler up through the mile which I went through in 4:54. Came through 2k in 6:06. I was just hanging with the people around me. Maybe moving up a little. Went through 2 miles in 9:58.
I was feeling pretty good up through this point. Maybe a little uneasy of how fast it was. Came through 5k in 15:30. So still just under 5 min mile pace. But then everything went wrong at 5-6k. I fell asleep and lost a lot of time and positions for this 1k.
Never really made up that ground. Didn't have a very good kick. I'm happy with my first 5k but disappointed with my last 3k. This is where I've been struggling my whole season.
Anyways, a big pr (not that it matters in xc), but the course was super fast.
Got WAC Championships in two weeks. Hope for some big things there.
